The incident that occurred at Yuva Bharati Stadium on December 13, centred around Messi viewing, has drawn severe criticism from various quarters. Bidhannagar police have already detained Satadru Dutta, the main organiser of this event.
Demands for ticket refunds have also emerged. It goes without saying that this incident has brought shame to Kolkata on the world stage. Now, actress Madhubanti Bagchi has vented her anger on social media regarding this matter.
Madhubanti has been living in Mumbai, away from Kolkata, for several years due to work. She has also expressed her shame over this incident. Madhubanti wrote, "Bengali heads hang in shame before the country. Living outside Bengal, I realise we are now a community that has lost everything. We are dying just by smelling the aroma of the ghee we ate long ago."
Spectators bought tickets at high prices. Some had procured passes worth 10 thousand, others 15 thousand rupees to see Messi with their own eyes. Due to the crowd of "celebrities" around Messi, most spectators could not even make out the football prince's figure. Many from that celebrity circle have posted pictures with Messi on social media.
Regarding this, Madhubanti says, "There's not a trace of self-respect. This is just an example of how safely one can step into a convenient boat and secure their own interests. Shame, disgraceful...!"
