Uttam Kumar was supposed to do the film 'Shatru'. This is what Shakuntala Barua revealed. At the same time, the Mahanayak himself had selected the actress for that widow's character. Later, when Ranjit Mallick made the film 'Shatru', Shakuntala still played the designated character as per Uttam Kumar's wishes. The actress has brought many facts to light in her conversation on Nibedita's online channel.

She became emotional while talking about the old days. She revealed that she had to act while overcoming many kinds of problems in her personal life as well. Shakuntala's husband was highly educated and held a high-ranking job. As a result, Shakuntala had to manage all aspects of the household.

At that time, the actress's husband clearly told her that she would have to do the household shopping, cooking, taking care of the daughters, and above all, accompany him to the club in the evening when he returned from office. If she could do cinema while managing all this, then she could do it. However, Shakuntala was not deterred by this. She managed everything equally well.

But even then, clouds appeared in her long-married life. Though there was no divorce, immediately after Shakuntala's elder daughter Pilu's marriage, she left her husband's house and started living elsewhere. In Shakuntala's words, this separation perhaps happened due to a breach of trust.

After her daughters got married and she moved away from her husband, performing in stage plays during this period of loneliness helped her a lot. To forget everything. The actress said, 'I did continuous stage plays. I did numerous mega serials. Throughout my life, I worked on both fronts. I enjoyed it too.'

However, Shakuntala is extremely disappointed with the current work environment. She said, 'Maybe I'm entering the makeup room and see some junior sitting with feet up on the table, smoking a cigarette. Even after seeing a senior in front, they don't put their feet down. It feels very bad to see all this.' Shakuntala added, 'So now a distance has been created. I have clearly stated that if you want to take me, I will need a separate makeup room. Even if it's a small one, that will do. But it must have a small divan and AC, otherwise I won't be able to manage.'

When asked for her reaction about her daughter Pilu's recent divorce and Ashish Vidyarthi's remarriage, Shakuntala said, 'At first I was very shocked. Then both of them came and explained it to me. I understood that Pilu wanted to be a free bird. Because she always did everything for the house. Bank, investment, everything. So she wanted some space. When they themselves are happy, what more can I say. Nothing is like it used to be!' Regarding new work, the actress said, ''Projapoti 2' will be released. After that, I don't know.' With a somewhat indifferent tone, Shakuntala added, 'Maybe I'll sit down with singing again. Maybe...'
