Delhi High Court criticises Rajpal Yadav, adjourns bail plea to Monday

The Delhi High Court on Thursday criticised Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav for failing to keep his promise. During a hearing about his bail plea, the court pointed out several reasons for how Yadav ended up in Tihar jail. "You did not go to jail because the Court passed an order. You have gone to jail because you have failed to comply with your own commitments to the Court. You were not giving the money because the Court asked you to, you were giving the money because you entered into a settlement," Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma was quoted as saying by Bar and Bench. The court adjourned the case to Monday and directed the complainant to file a reply to the bail application.

MEA says US factsheet changes reflect 'shared India-US trade understanding'

Commenting on the recent changes to the White House factsheet for the India-US trade deal, the Ministry of External Affairs said the updates show the shared understanding of both countries. During the weekly press conference, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that the factsheet highlights the joint statement, which serves as the foundation for the framework set up between New Delhi and Washington for a bilateral trade deal. "We had agreed to a joint statement on the framework for an interim agreement on reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade.. The joint statement is the framework and remains the basis of our shared understanding in this matter. The amendments in the US factsheet reflect the shared understandings contained in the joint statement," the spokesperson was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

This comes in response to the issue surrounding retired Army Chief General MM Naravane’s unpublished memoir, 'Four Stars of Destiny'. A senior Ministry official mentioned that a meeting took place recently, where a detailed presentation on the guidelines was delivered. The guidelines will probably build on existing regulations and the rules in the Official Secrets Act (OSA). SIT begins fresh scientific sampling at Sabarimala

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged loss of gold from artefacts at the Sabarimala temple reached the hill shrine on Thursday to collect fresh samples for scientific analysis, after receiving permission from the Kerala High Court earlier this week. Led by SP S Sasidharan, the team arrived at Pampa in the morning and proceeded to Sannidhanam by afternoon. Samples are expected to be collected after the temple closes for the day’s poojas. The SIT, assisted by the Legal Metrology Department, forensic experts and skilled artisans, will examine gold-plated coverings in the Sreekovil and its pillars. It plans to conduct X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy, Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry and Optical Emission Spectroscopy. The High Court directed the SIT to submit a status report by February 19, detailing the samples collected and the laboratories entrusted with analysis.
