What initially appeared to be a tragic hit-and-run involving a newlywed couple in Rajasthan has turned into a chilling case of planned murder. This murder is drawing eerieparallels with the widely discussed Meghalaya honeymoon killing.
Ashish and Anju, who were married just three months ago, were out on an evening walk on January 30 when they were allegedly hit by an unidentified vehicle. While Ashish died on the spot, Anju was found unconscious on the road, claiming she had been robbed of her gold jewellery.
However, police investigations later revealed that the incident was not an accident but a pre-planned murder allegedly orchestrated by Anju with the help of her boyfriend and two others.

What happened on January 30
Amrita Duhan, Superintendent of Police, Sri Ganganagar, said police received information around 9 pm on January 30 about a couple lying unconscious on the road. The two were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared Ashish dead.
As per a report of NDTV, SP Duhan said, "We were informed that a man had been hit by an unidentified vehicle, leading to his death. We surveyed the accident site and also called the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to investigate from the technical point of view."
Anju, 23, told police that she and her husband had gone out for a walk when an unidentified vehicle hit them. She also claimed that she was robbed of the gold jewellery she was wearing.

However, investigators soon noticed inconsistencies. The medical report showed that Ashish had injury marks and signs of strangulation, while Anju appeared to have escaped without injuries. This discrepancy raised suspicion.
Police sources further revealed that Anju’s phone records showed frequent contact with Sanju, a man living close to her house.
Plot parallels with Meghalaya honeymoon murder
Investigators found that Anju was unhappy after her marriage and had returned to her hometown, where she reunited with her ex-boyfriend Sanju. During this time, the two allegedly planned Ashish’s murder.
On the night of January 30, Anju reportedly took Ashish to an isolated road where Sanju and his accomplices, Rocky, also known as Rohit, and Badal, alias Siddharth were hiding. “They attacked him brutally and also strangled him and then tried to pass it off as a road accident,” Duhan added.
To strengthen the robbery angle, Anju allegedly handed over her phone and earrings to the accused and pretended to be unconscious. Police said her changing statements and contradictions further exposed the plot.
All four accused have been arrested. The case has drawn comparisons with the Meghalaya honeymoon murder, where Raja Raghuvanshi was killed during his honeymoon, allegedly at the behest of his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi.
