Soldier arrested in Uttar Pradesh for abducting and killing young woman

Authorities launched an investigation following the incident, which has sparked outrage and concern over safety.

An army personnel has been arrested in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on charges of kidnapping and murdering a young woman. The accused, named Deepak, had recently been arranged to marry another woman. Despite this, Deepak was pressuring a girlfriend to marry him. When she refused, he brutally murdered her, police claim.

Police said that on November 10, the accused young man first called the girl to meet him. He took her on a bike to a secluded place. There, he slit the girl's throat with a knife and killed her. The girl's body was buried at that location. The girl's family had filed a complaint with the police on November 10.

Police examined CCTV footage from the surrounding areas. There, the accused youth was seen taking the young woman away on a bike. On November 15, police recovered the young woman's body from that secluded area. Police found a bag at the scene. It contained a book with a name and phone number written on it, which helped police track down the suspect. Finally, police arrested Deepak on Monday.

DCP (Ganganagar) Kuldeep Gunawat said the body has been sent for post-mortem. The arrested person is being interrogated. During interrogation, Deepak confessed that he met the young woman on Instagram. The girl wanted to marry someone working in the army, and their relationship began this way. Although he was supposed to marry another woman on November 30, the girl was pressuring Deepak to marry her, according to the allegation.
