A tragic incident in Karnataka's Koppal district has left two people dead and one critically injured after an 18-year-old allegedly attacked his family members with a knife before attempting to take his own life. The incident occurred in Hosa Ayodhya village of Gangavathi taluk.
Brutal stabbing by the teenager
According to a report by News18, the police said that Sai Naidu allegedly stabbed his father, Yankanna Naidu, who was 48 years old, his mother Soujanya, and his sister Pragati, who was 20 years old, during the attack. He later reportedly inflicted injuries on himself. Pragati died at the scene, while the injured family members were rushed to the hospital. Yankanna Naidu later succumbed to his injuries at Ballari Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) Hospital. Soujanya remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment. The accused is also receiving medical care for serious injuries.

Police officials from Koppal district have begun questioning the teenager as part of the investigation. In contrast, Gangavathi police have inspected the crime scene and are examining the circumstances that led to the violence. Preliminary reports suggest the youth may have been addicted to online gaming, but authorities have stressed that the exact motive is yet to be established, per News18.
What led to the killing spree?
Investigators are recording statements from relatives, neighbours, and other witnesses while examining all possible angles, including family disputes and concerns related to excessive gaming. Police have urged the public not to draw conclusions until the investigation is complete.
