India on Monday called for restraint after Israel and Iran exchanged fresh strikes, warning that the renewed violence in West Asia is of “utmost concern” to the international community.
The Ministry of External Affairs said the situation had intensified sharply and urged all parties to move back to diplomacy. The latest round of hostilities marked the first direct military confrontation between the two countries since the temporary ceasefire of April 8.

A prudent word to those abroad
The Indian embassy in Tehran separately advised Indian nationals to avoid travelling to Iran and asked those already in the country to leave “by available means of transport” at the earliest, as regional tensions deepened.
The advisory came amid renewed Israeli and Iranian strikes and growing fears of a wider regional conflict.

The escalation followed a new round of exchanges between the two sides, with TOI reporting that Israel launched strikes on central and western Iran after missile fire from Tehran, while Iran responded with waves of attacks.
The fighting had raised concern over shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and broader disruptions to global trade and energy flows.
India’s statement added to a growing chorus of international appeals for restraint as the conflict continued to spread beyond the immediate battlefield.
