A former Mrs Kerala beauty pageant contestant has been arrested by customs officials at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in connection with an alleged drug smuggling case involving hydroponic cannabis valued at approximately ₹11.82 crore.
According to customs officers, the 29-year-old woman, identified as Harsha Sunny, arrived in Mumbai from Bangkok when officials intercepted her during routine checks. A detailed examination of her baggage reportedly led to the recovery of 11.824 kilograms of hydroponic weed, a high-grade form of cannabis that commands a premium price in illegal markets.

Reportedly, the drugs seized have been found in her travelling bag and are believed to be worth ₹11.82 crore in the market, investigators said. After the recovery, the customs officials arrested Sunny under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and further investigated the alleged trafficking network involved in the operation.
The case has again raised the issue of the growing trend of drug trafficking through international air routes into India. The customs authorities said they are trying to track down all those involved in the alleged smuggling ring.
