Accident on the way to a wedding ceremony. At least four people died after the vehicle fell into a ravine. Many were injured in this incident in Churachandpur, Manipur.
According to police sources, the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon near Naljang village in the Singat area of Churachandpur. Police said a truck had been hired to attend the wedding ceremony. About 40 people were traveling in it. The vehicle overturned near a bend on the hilly road in the Naljang area. It is initially believed that the vehicle fell into a ravine after the driver lost control. Four people, including three women, died in the incident.

Rescue operations and investigation underway
A police official said four people died at the spot. Rescue team members reached there immediately after receiving news of the accident. The injured were rescued and admitted to a nearby health center. He also said the cause of the accident is being investigated.
Notably, this is the second road accident in the Churachandpur area within the past week. On December 31 last year, an ambulance also met with an accident in that area. Officials said the ambulance was carrying a dead body. The vehicle met with an accident in the Tejangkot area at that time. The vehicle lost control and fell into a river. The ambulance driver and his assistant died in that incident. Both died by drowning.
