The National Capital Region Transport Corporation has invited bids for licensing commercial spaces at the Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat station, marking another major step in turning transit infrastructure into integrated urban hubs.
According to NCRTC, around 818 square meters of commercial space, spread across eight identified locations on the stationâs ground floor, is being offered on a license basis. The initiative is part of the corporationâs broader effort to improve commuter convenience while also boosting non-fare revenue generation along the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor.
The available units range from compact 17-square-meter spaces to larger areas measuring up to 247 square meters. Both bare-shell and built-up spaces are being offered on an âas is, where isâ basis, with license durations ranging from 9 to 15 years.
Retail outlets and cafes planned inside station premises
According to The Times of India, the commercial inventory is expected to house a mix of commuter-oriented businesses, including cafes, food and beverage outlets, convenience stores, pod services, retail counters, and service centres.
Officials believe the presence of such facilities inside station premises will significantly improve passenger experience by reducing the need for additional travel outside the station area for basic services and shopping requirements.
The initiative is also expected to benefit nearby residents and visitors by creating accessible retail spaces within one of Delhiâs fastest-growing transport zones.
NCRTC said the station infrastructure is being developed not just as a mobility point but as a modern urban destination capable of supporting commercial and mixed-use activity.

Sarai Kale Khan emerging as major transport hub
According to The Times of India, Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat Station is among the largest stations on the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor and is rapidly evolving into a key multi-modal transport hub in the national capital.
The station already enjoys connectivity with Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, the Delhi Metroâs Pink Line, Veer Haqiqat Rai ISBT, and the Ring Road network.
A recently operational 280-metre covered foot overbridge equipped with travelators now directly connects the station with Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, significantly easing passenger movement between the two transport systems.
With heavy anticipated footfall and seamless connectivity, the station is being viewed as a high-potential commercial zone with strong visibility and accessibility advantages.

NCRTC aims to create transit-oriented commercial ecosystem
According to The Times of India, the officials said the station precinct is gradually being developed as a major Transit-Oriented Development node, opening opportunities for long-term commercial growth and integrated urban activity.
NCRTC has encouraged participation from retailers, local enterprises, and service providers to help create vibrant commuter-friendly spaces around the station ecosystem.
The corporation believes the initiative will not only improve public convenience but also generate employment opportunities and strengthen sustainable revenue streams beyond ticketing operations.
Interested bidders can submit proposals through the e-tendering process until June 17, 2026. Tender details, eligibility requirements, and related documentation are available through the NCRTC portal and the Central Public Procurement platform.
