BJP national working president Nitin Nabin will arrive in Guwahati on December 26 for a two-day visit to Assam, a visit that party leaders say is important for preparing the roadmap for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.

This will be Nabin’s first visit to Assam after taking charge as the BJP’s national working president earlier this month. Party workers welcomed him at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on his arrival. During his visit on December 26 and 27, he will attend the BJP state executive meeting at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra. He will also take part in several organisational meetings aimed at reviewing the party’s position in the state.

As part of his schedule, Nabin will visit the BJP Assam headquarters, where a meeting of the state core committee is planned. Leaders are expected to discuss recent political developments and assess the party’s organisational readiness ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls.

As per reports, BJP Assam Pradesh vice-president Manoj Baruah said that the state executive meeting will review the current political situation and organisational matters. He added that the discussions are meant to finalise a clear plan for the Assam Legislative Assembly elections, which are scheduled for March-April next year.

The meeting will include a special address by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and will be chaired by BJP Assam president Dilip Saikia. Members of Parliament, MLAs, state office-bearers, executive and council members, along with around 800 party workers, are expected to attend.

On December 27, meetings of the state election management committee and the manifesto drafting committee are also scheduled.

Nabin as the national working president

Nitin Nabin was appointed the BJP national working president on December 14. Party leaders have linked his appointment to the leadership push in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, as the BJP gears up for upcoming electoral and policy challenges.
