New financial rules from March 1, 2026: Here’s what you need to know

India is set to roll out a series of financial updates starting March 1, 2026, covering banking operations, fraud protection, tax filing and toll payments. The changes are aimed at making financial processes smoother and more secure for citizens. As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain open on March 31 despite Mahavir Jayanti to facilitate important year-end transactions and tax payments. Rajasthan renames Mount Abu as Abu Raj; two other towns get new names

The Rajasthan government on Friday announced the renaming of three well-known places in the state, with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma making the declaration in the state Assembly while discussing the Finance Bill. The changes affect Mount Abu, Kaman and Jahazpur. As per the announcement, Mount Abu will now be known as Abu Raj, Kaman will now be called Kamvan, and Jahazpur has been renamed to Yagyapur. 23-year-old Odisha woman allegedly raped by boyfriend, stranger, then thrown from four-storey building

A 23-year-old woman in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district was allegedly raped twice in a single day and later pushed to her death from a four-storey building, police said. Final SIR voter list to be published today

The Election Commission will publish the final SIR voter list in the state on Saturday afternoon. According to the Commission, the names of at least 7 crore 8 lakh voters will be included in the list. Massive fire breaks out at dawn at UP, clinic and warehouse gutted

A major fire broke out early Saturday morning in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh. Around 6 am, a blaze suddenly erupted on the ground floor of a house and quickly spread to a nearby e-rickshaw agency, a clinic and a warehouse. Three fire engines rushed to the spot after receiving the alert, and the fire was brought under control after prolonged efforts. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in the incident.
