A shocking murder in South Delhi's upscale Kailash Hills locality has left residents stunned after a dentist was arrested for allegedly killing his long-time house help inside his residence.

The accused, identified as Dr Manish Gupta, a 54-year-old dentist who operates a private clinic near his Mount Kailash residence, was allegedly found sitting beside the victim's body when police arrived at the scene on Tuesday morning.

The victim, identified as 45-year-old Meena, had reportedly been working at the doctor's house for nearly a decade.

Police found accused sitting beside the body

The incident came to light after a neighbour alerted police around 11.30 am.

According to NDTV, the caller informed Amar Colony police station that a woman was lying in a pool of blood on the rooftop of a neighbouring building.

When officers reached the location, they found Dr Gupta allegedly sitting quietly near the victim's body.

Police claim the dentist immediately admitted to attacking Meena. He allegedly told investigators that he had first assaulted her with a cricket bat before stabbing her with a knife.

Authorities took him into custody from the spot without resistance.

‘Bad energy’ claim emerges during questioning

According to NDTV, during preliminary interrogation, police said the accused offered an unusual explanation for his actions.

Investigators claim Dr Gupta told them that Meena brought "bad energy" into the house, though officials are still verifying the statement and examining whether any mental health issues or other factors played a role.

Police have not yet established whether there was any prior dispute between the two.

Investigators are now examining the accused's statements, his recent behaviour and his relationship with the victim to determine the exact motive behind the crime.

Long-time employee worked at house for a decade

According to NDTV, Meena had been employed at the doctor's residence for the past ten years and was familiar with the family.

The brutality of the alleged attack has raised questions about what may have triggered such an extreme act.

South Delhi residents have expressed shock over the incident, particularly because the accused was a practising medical professional living in an affluent neighbourhood.

Police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the crime scene, while investigators are questioning people known to both the accused and the victim.
