Delhi’s rapidly expanding metro network is set to receive another significant push as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to inaugurate new corridors and launch fresh expansion projects in the national capital. The initiatives are part of a broader set of development projects worth around ₹33,500 crore that the Prime Minister will unveil on March 8. From improving last-mile connectivity in densely populated neighbourhoods to linking key transit hubs, the new metro corridors are expected to make daily commuting smoother for thousands of residents across the city.
Two new metro corridors to improve connectivity
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two new corridors of the Delhi Metro as part of projects worth about ₹18,300 crore. The first corridor is the Majlis Park–Maujpur Babarpur stretch on the Pink Line, spanning around 12.3 km. The second is the Deepali Chowk–Majlis Park corridor on the Magenta Line, measuring approximately 9.9 km.
These new routes are expected to significantly improve connectivity across several parts of the city. Areas such as Burari, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, Madhuban Chowk, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalaswa and Majlis Park are among the neighbourhoods likely to benefit from the enhanced metro access. Improved connectivity is expected to reduce travel time for daily commuters and offer better integration with other parts of the metro network. For residents living in the city’s outer and northern areas, the new lines could ease congestion and provide a more efficient alternative to road travel.

Foundation stone for three Phase V-A corridors
Along with the inauguration, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for three new corridors under Phase V-A of the Delhi Metro expansion plan, covering a total route length of around 16.10 km.
The planned corridors include R.K. Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1, and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. Once completed, these routes are expected to strengthen connectivity between key parts of the national capital, particularly linking South Delhi, Noida and the airport more seamlessly. Earlier in the day, Modi will also visit the Government Pool Residential Accommodation Type 5 quarters in Sarojini Nagar, where he will hand over keys to female allottees. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth ₹15,200 crore under the General Pool Residential Accommodation redevelopment plan. The initiative aims to modernise government housing colonies in Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar and Sriniwaspuri.
