Local media reports suggest that the BNP is on track for a historic win in the elections. According to news agency ANI, vote counting has been completed in 249 constituencies, with only 50 left. Out of the 299 seats, the agency reported that BNP and its allies have secured 181 seats, while Jamaat and its allies have 61 seats.

These early figures indicate a significant change in Bangladesh's political landscape.

BNP's chairman, Tarique Rahman, has requested that celebrations for this victory be postponed in honour of his mother, Khaleda Zia, who passed away before the election. As a result, they have called for prayers for Khaleda Zia following Friday's congregational prayer.

Rahman has been unofficially declared elected in the Bogura-6 (Sadar) Constituency after winning decisively against his closest rival, according to ANI.
