Bengaluru witnessed a brief scare on Sunday afternoon after a minor fire broke out at Nagasandra Metro Station on the Namma Metro network. The incident triggered concern among commuters after flames and thick smoke were seen rising from a section of the station premises.
The incident took place at around 1.30 pm on the Green Line corridor connecting Madavara and Silk Institute. According to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the fire originated from a signboard located near the station's emergency exit area.
Visuals from the spot quickly surfaced online, showing smoke billowing out from one corner of the station, prompting fears among passengers and residents in nearby areas.
Fire contained within minutes by response teams
According to News 18, BMRCL said its operations and fire response teams immediately reached the location after being alerted about the incident.
In an official statement, the metro operator said the teams acted swiftly and managed to extinguish the flames before the situation could escalate further.
Authorities described it as a minor fire and confirmed that it was completely brought under control in a short span of time.
Officials also clarified that there were no casualties or injuries in the incident.

Namma Metro train operations remain normal
Despite the alarming visuals, metro services on the Green Line continued without any interruption.
According to News 18, BMRCL confirmed that train operations were unaffected and commuters did not face disruptions due to the fire.
The corporation also urged citizens not to panic and assured them that all necessary safety measures had been followed.
The incident briefly caused anxiety among passengers because the smoke was visible from outside the station premises, but authorities stressed that the emergency was handled efficiently.

Cause of the blaze yet to be determined
The exact reason behind the fire has not been disclosed yet.
According to News 18, officials said preliminary information suggests that only the signboard near the emergency exit area was involved, but a detailed assessment is expected to determine what triggered the blaze.
Nagasandra Metro Station is one of the important stations on Bengaluru's Green Line and serves as a key transit point for thousands of commuters daily.
BMRCL said it would provide additional updates if required after completing its internal assessment of the incident.
