Four people, including a newborn, died while being transported to another hospital when a deadly fire broke out in the ambulance. The incident occurred around 1 AM on Monday on the Modasa-Dhansura state highway near Modasa in Gujarat's Aravalli district.
According to police sources, the accident claimed the lives of the infant, a doctor named Shantilal Rentiya, a nurse named Buribhen Manat (23), and the child's father Jignesh Mochi (38). Additionally, ambulance driver Ankit Thakur and two relatives of the infant were critically injured. The injured have been sent to a local hospital for treatment.

It is learned that the infant was born just one day ago at a government hospital in Gujarat. However, the child had been critically ill since birth. For this reason, the infant was being taken to a private hospital in an ambulance when the fire broke out.
CCTV footage from the area shows the ambulance catching fire near a roadside petrol pump. Fire brigade personnel quickly reached the spot after receiving information. However, the exact cause of the fire is not yet known. Police Superintendent Manohar Singh Jadeja said forensic experts have been informed. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
