A 20-year-old NEET aspirant from Madhya Pradesh, who was living in Nagpur for her studies, allegedly died by suicide days before the re-examination. Her family now claims that the cancellation of the medical entrance test following a paper leak had deeply affected her, per a report by Hindustan Times.
The family's claim is based on an alleged suicide note that was found in one of her books after her last rites were performed in her native village in Mauganj district.

Note points to exam-related distress
According to relatives quoted by HT, the young woman had appeared confident after taking the NEET examination and was hopeful about her performance. However, they said her emotional state changed after reports emerged of the paper leak and the subsequent cancellation of the test.
In the alleged note, she wrote, “I had high hopes of scoring good marks in the NEET exam, but now there is no guarantee that I will perform just as well if I have to take the paper again. I’m sorry, Mom and Dad. I’ve ruined everything.”
Family members said they later realised she may have been struggling with depression following the cancellation of the examination.
Family speaks of shattered dreams
The aspirant's father, who works as a cook in Nagpur, described her as a bright student with a long-standing ambition to become a doctor.
“My daughter was brilliant in her studies and always dreamt of becoming a doctor. Despite our limited means, we took loans worth lakhs to support her education. After the exam, she was happy and confident of being selected. But the moment news broke about the paper leak and cancellation, she was shattered. My 20 years of hard work went in vain because the government failed to conduct the exam properly,” he told HT.
He also expressed concern about the future of his younger son, who is currently studying in Class 9.
