‘Dear Vaibhav, well done’: Virat Kohli applauds youngster after match-winning knock

Fifteen-year-old Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi received a personal note from Virat Kohli. This came after an impressive performance against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026.

The youngster approached Kohli for an autograph after the match, and Virat Kohli inscribed on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Royals cap, "Dear Vaibhav, well done." Rajasthan Royals shared the post on X (formerly Twitter) and added a caption, “A job well done with a long road ahead!”

Rajasthan Royals chased a target of 202 and beat RCB by six wickets with 12 balls left. This was their fourth straight win and strengthened their position at the top of the IPL 2026 table.

Public reactions

The moment drew widespread admiration online. Netizens commented on the X post shared by Rajasthan Royals. "Appreciation from Virat will inspire the young Vaibhav for performing in future matches," wrote one commenter. Another noted, "When a legend like Virat Kohli writes 'Dear Vaibhav, well done' for Vaibhav Suryavanshi - it's more than just an autograph."

A third simply called it a sign of things to come: "Great another Legend in making."

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's performance

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s aggressive batting in the power play set the tone for the chase. He attacked experienced bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood and dominated both, who looked under pressure and had no clear answers. Virat Kohli, who was on the field, watched the innings closely. The Riyan Parag-led Royals side completed the chase comfortably.

Orange cap and tournament standing

The knock has further cemented Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's place among the tournament's leading run-scorers. He has now accumulated 200 runs across four matches, along with two half-centuries. He has overtaken Yashasvi Jaiswal to claim the Orange Cap in IPL 2026.
