Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s thrilling victory over the Mumbai Indians has completely changed the IPL 2026 playoff race. While RCB moved to the top of the points table with a crucial win, the Mumbai Indians became one of the first teams to be officially eliminated from the tournament. With the league stage entering its final phase, the battle for the top four spots has intensified.

RCB, SRH and GT strengthen playoff hopes

RCB, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans currently sit at the top of the table with 14 points each. Bengaluru’s latest win also improved their Net Run Rate, giving them a slight edge in the standings. Another victory could almost confirm their playoff qualification, though the franchise will aim to finish in the top two for a better route to the final.

Punjab Kings are also in a strong position with 13 points from just 10 matches. With four league games remaining, PBKS control their own destiny and could secure qualification with two more wins. Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad also remain favourites to reach the playoffs if they maintain consistency in their remaining fixtures.

CSK, RR, KKR and DC face a tense final stretch

Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are still alive in the playoff race with 12 points each, but both teams have now entered a must-win stage. Any slip-up from here could seriously damage their chances of progressing to the knockout round.

Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals also remain mathematically in contention, though their paths to qualification look difficult. KKR may need to win all of their remaining matches, while Delhi Capitals require victories along with a major improvement in Net Run Rate. They will also depend heavily on favourable results from other teams.
