That lazy Autumn Sunday afternoon still lingers in my mind like a vivid dream. The Kolkata sky was a deep, soul-stirring blue, punctuated by drifts of white clouds that looked like stray tufts of cotton. On a day like that, staying indoors felt like a sin; my heart was restless, pulled by a long-standing yearning - the call of the 'Kashphul'.

On a whim, the decision was made: let's go. Our destination was Burdwan. As the car began to move, leaving the city's chaos behind, I realised this wasn't just a trip; it was an escape into freedom.

Chasing the white waves

The moment we transitioned from Kolkata's concrete jungle onto the Durgapur Expressway, the world transformed. High-rises gave way to sprawling green fields and distant silhouettes of palm trees, while the sky seemed to expand into an endless canopy.

Before long, we saw it - the sight I had been aching for. Along the roadside, across the meadows, and hugging the riverbanks were waves of snowy-white 'Kashphul'. It felt as if Nature herself had draped a white saree to welcome us. When I stepped out of the car, the flowers swayed in the gentle breeze, acting like a silent, graceful salutation. I found myself humming a tune... and in that instant, the city's anxieties, the busy schedules, and the endless calculations of life simply vanished.

A golden farewell

As evening approached, the sun began its slow descent. The pristine white of the 'Kashphul' turned into a shimmering gold. The sky became a canvas of red, orange, and amber - a masterpiece painted in real-time. I stood there in silence, watching the scene unfold, feeling as though time itself had hit the pause button.

The drive back felt heavy. It felt as if I was leaving a piece of myself behind - perhaps those moments of pure weightlessness. By the time we reached Kolkata and the night took over, the city had returned to its usual rhythm. But inside me, the sway of the 'Kashphul' and the crisp Autumn air remained.

This short Sunday getaway was a gentle reminder: the true joys of life aren't found in far-off destinations. With just a bit of will and a little time, happiness reveals itself - much like the 'Kashphul'... silently, yet profoundly.
