Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has clarified that he will be available to bowl in the IPL 2026, putting to rest any doubts that arose after the auction list was released. When the list for the IPL 2026 mini-auction was made public, Green was surprisingly registered only as a batter and not as an all-rounder, which led to questions about whether he would be able to bowl in the tournament.

Green later explained that the listing was the result of a mistake during the registration process. According to him, the wrong category was selected unintentionally, and it was not a reflection of his current fitness or role. He made it clear that the error came from the management side and not from any medical or strategic decision to limit his bowling.

The Australian cricketer also confirmed that he is physically fit and ready to bowl. Green missed the IPL 2025 season due to back surgery, after his recovery he returned to international cricket and started bowling for his national side. This clearly is a reflection that he is very much fit for bowling. This recent involvement with the ball at the international level reassured teams that there are no restrictions on his bowling workload.

For the IPL 2026 mini-auction, Green has set his base price at ₹2 crore. With his ability to bat in the top or middle order and provide seam bowling, he is expected to draw attention from multiple teams. The mini-auction is scheduled to take place on December 16 in Abu Dhabi, where franchises will have the opportunity to bid for him with full clarity about his role.

Why will Green be a special interest in this year's auction?

This year's auction list contains a total of 350 players. Big names like Faf Du Plessis, Andre Russell took retirement from the IPL and all-rounders like Glenn Maxwell and Moeen Ali also refused to put their name in the list which created a big gap in the all-rounder category. Cameron Green who is only one of its kind, brings the skillset with both bat and ball and also can bat at any position, automatically becomes the attraction of the teams.

Teams that will be keen on Green

The skillset Green is bringing to the table is very special for this year’s IPL auction as there a very few fast bowling all-rounders listed who will go under the hammer. A fast bowling all-rounder who can open the innings and also can bat anywhere from the number 3 to 6 position, KKR will be a team that will surely look for Green. From the KKR perspective, Green can be their explosive opener and also a replacement for Russell.

CSK and DC will also be in the race to get Green as both teams have to solve their middle order problem and Green will add variety with both bat and ball.

Otherwise, the teams with a budget of more than 20 crores may have other problems to solve, making it a possibility that the Aussie superpower can become the highest-priced player in IPL ever.
