The ICC T20 World Cup has started, as the game entered its second day, fans have smelt a change in world cricket. As the T20I cricket is no longer limited to only marquee clashes, associate nations are also set to prove why they are there on the big stage. From the Netherlands to Nepal, every associate team had a great outing in the field so far. The game has evolved significantly and has reached a point where players from associate nations now have the opportunity to compete on major stages. This is largely thanks to the leagues and the restructuring of the ICC, which have created opportunities for these teams to thrive and play more frequently.

How are the associate teams growing?

The ICC structuring of the tournaments now allows the associate teams to compete with challenges, and as the leagues are increasing globally, the need and value of the players are increasing. ICC has able to create a roadmap for the associate nations, in which they have to compete in the zonal qualification from which they get a chance to participate in the marquee T20 World Cup clash every two years, which itself adds experience to players. Also, the investments from the government helped the teams to grow steadily.
