Ryan ten Doeschate and T Dilip stepped down from the Indian coaching staff. India’s coaching setup is set for a major reshuffle ahead of the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. The departures come after the conclusion of India’s tour of England and mark the end of an important phase in Gautam Gambhir’s support staff as the team begins preparations for the new World Test Championship cycle.

Ryan ten Doeschate to return to franchise cricket

Ryan ten Doeschate, who joined the Indian team as assistant coach in 2024 following Gautam Gambhir’s appointment, has decided to end his stint with the national side. The former Netherlands international was a trusted member of Gambhir’s coaching group and contributed across batting, fielding and overall team strategy during his tenure.

During his time with India, the team enjoyed notable success in white-ball cricket, winning the Asia Cup, Champions Trophy and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. However, India’s performances in the Test arena were less convincing, with defeats in key overseas and home series affecting the team’s standing in the longer format.

The 45-year-old is expected to return to the Kolkata Knight Riders setup, where he previously worked alongside Gambhir and played an influential role in the franchise’s coaching structure.

Fielding coach T Dilip has also stepped down, ending a successful association with the Indian team that began during Rahul Dravid’s tenure as head coach. Known for introducing innovative fielding drills and creating a competitive environment within the squad, Dilip continued in his role after Gambhir took over.

His departure, along with Ten Doeschate’s, comes as the BCCI reviews the national team’s support staff following the England tour. The board is expected to announce replacements before India begin their two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.
