A right-handed batter and right-arm off-spinner, Saransh Jain has built a strong reputation in India’s domestic circuit. Representing Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy, he has featured in 54 first-class matches, scoring 2,223 runs at an average of 31.75. His record includes two centuries and 14 half-centuries, while he has also claimed 188 wickets at an average of 27.30, including 10 five-wicket hauls.

His consistent performances over several seasons have established him as one of the country’s most reliable all-rounders. Despite stiff competition for places, Jain continued to deliver with both bat and ball, eventually earning recognition from the national selectors.

Jain strengthened his claim during India A’s recent tour of Sri Lanka. In the second unofficial Test, he produced an outstanding all-round display, scoring an unbeaten 70 and taking six wickets to play a key role in the match. Those performances proved to be the final push towards his maiden senior call-up.

His inclusion also provides India with a specialist off-spin option for the spin-friendly conditions in Sri Lanka. With Washington Sundar unavailable because of a hamstring injury, the selectors turned to Jain, whose ability to contribute in both departments adds balance to the squad.
