Lancashire failed to capture attention in the Championship in 2025. Keaton Jennings resigned in May. Since then, Anderson has been handling responsibilities as the interim captain. Anderson retired after taking 704 wickets in his Test career. He wants to share that experience with his teammates. Receiving the new responsibility, this former England pacer said, 'Last season I got the opportunity to lead Lancashire for the first time. That was quite a big responsibility for me. Now I am proud to receive this responsibility permanently. There are many talented players in the squad. The team has a mixture of youth and experience. My goal now is to bring the team back to the first division with everyone's help.'
New head coach Steven Croft is also happy to have Jimmy as captain.
