Thursday at Kalyani was about Anushtup Majumdar during the Ranji Trophy match of Bengal. He made his 100th first-class match on the field. The audiences were expecting a huge innings from the experienced cricketer of Bengal in this match.
However, even though that hope wasn't fulfilled, Bengal's batters didn't disappoint. In Anushtup's 100th match, a brilliant century came from Sudip Chattopadhyay's bat. He remained unbeaten on 140 runs.
Opening the innings, skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran played a sparkling 81-run knock. Bengal scored 340 runs for four wickets at the end of the first day against Services.

Services won the toss and decided to bowl first. But Bengal's batters virtually proved that decision wrong. Opening the innings, Abhimanyu and Sudip built a 151-run partnership. Bengal skipper got out after playing a sparkling 81-run innings off 152 balls. He hit 9 fours and one six.
However, Bengal started losing wickets quickly. Sudip Kumar Gharami got out after scoring just 9 runs. Even Anushtup failed to meet expectations. Despite a good start, he returned after scoring 27 runs off 33 balls.
Sudip continued to fight while holding one end. Shahbaz Ahmed partnered with him for the fourth wicket. Shahbaz returned after scoring 38 runs off 38 balls. But Sudip didn't give up. He continued fighting even after completing his century. He has been in good rhythm in the Ranji this season.

He maintained that rhythm against Services as well. At the end of the first day, Sudip remained unbeaten on 140 runs off 226 balls. He hit 12 fours and one six in this innings. Sumanta Gupta is at the crease with him. He is unbeaten on 31 runs off 45 balls.
Bengal scored 340 runs for four wickets at the end of the day.
