The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has claimed that more states are moving towards protecting protesters from legal action after Bihar and Assam issued notifications withdrawing cases. In a late-night update, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the organisation has now received an assurance that authorities in Rajasthan will also not proceed against protesters.

“After Bihar and Assam notifications, we have just been guaranteed that no authority will proceed against protesters in Rajasthan,” Das wrote on X, hours after raising concerns over reports of arrests and detentions in several parts of the country.

Around 2 am on Tuesday, Das posted a video with CJP’s legal point of contact Ratna Singh, detailing a meeting with Delhi Police officials, whom he described as “interlocutors” involved in the negotiations.

“We told them that we’re afraid that the government won’t keep its promise,” Das said in the video while referring to the assurance that protesters would not face legal action.

According to Das, the discussion lasted nearly three hours. He said Delhi Police officials handed over a copy of the Bihar government’s notification withdrawing cases registered against protesters before July 26. He added that similar assurances from other states are expected soon.

“They’ve reiterated their promise of releasing guarantee-notifications by union government and other BJP/NDA states by tomorrow. Hopefully, the agreed upon language shall be used,” Das said.

CJP asks protesters to stay patient

The party has urged protesters who are allegedly facing police action to remain patient while legal efforts continue.

“We are with you, we will ensure that lawyers are there to help you,” Saurav Das said in another video message.

To strengthen legal support, the CJP announced plans to launch a dedicated website that will connect protesters with lawyers across districts. The platform will allow legal professionals to register their names, locations and the kind of assistance they can provide.

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal has announced ₹1 crore as legal aid for the initiative and appealed to lawyers across India to join the effort.

“They will create a website where lawyers willing to provide legal assistance can register their names, location and the kind of help they can offer,” Sibal said while addressing a press conference with Das on Monday night.

CJP warns protest could resume if promises are not honoured

The party has also warned that it could return to the streets if governments fail to withdraw FIRs or continue taking action against protesters.

“We demand that all the FIRs against the protestors be immediately withdrawn, students be released and no future FIRs be filed (in line with our agreement) by Delhi police / Central investigative agencies / Police in BJP-allied states, FAILING WHICH WE WILL BE FORCED TO SIT ON PROTEST AGAIN,” CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka wrote on X.

The warning comes just days after CJP leaders, including Abhijeet Dipke, ended their 37-day protest. The agitation concluded after the Centre accepted key demands, including compensation for families of students who died by suicide, withdrawal of cases against protester and the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The movement focused on the NEET-UG paper leak and alleged examination irregularities, drawing widespread participation from students across the country.
