Shubham Ranjane grabbed headlines during the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 with a fighting half-century against Pakistan, registering his maiden T20 International fifty. The knock highlighted his journey from Mumbai’s domestic circuit to representing the USA on the global stage.

Ranjane began his professional career in Mumbai, making his Ranji Trophy debut in the 2016–17 season. During his time in domestic cricket, he shared the dressing room with players such as Ajinkya Rahane and Suryakumar Yadav, gaining valuable experience in a competitive setup. Cricket runs deep in his family; his grandfather Vasant represented India, while his other grandfather, Subhash, played for Maharashtra between 1958 and 1964, shaping his early connection to the sport.

Who is Shubham Ranjane?

In 2022, Ranjane made a career-defining move to the United States and joined Major League Cricket. He played for the Texas Super Kings, a franchise linked to the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, opening new avenues at the international level.

At the T20 World Cup 2026, Ranjane quickly proved his worth. In his first outing for the USA, he scored a brisk 37 off 22 balls. His standout performance came against Pakistan, when he walked in with the USA at 69 for 3, chasing 191. Under pressure, he displayed composure and aggressive stroke play, building a crucial partnership with Milind Kumar to keep the chase alive.

Chasing a target of 191 runs, Shubham Ranjane was the only one to score a half-century for America. He played a brilliant innings of 51 runs off 30 balls. His strike rate was 170. His innings included 3 sixes and 3 fours. This was the first half-century in T20 international cricket for the 31-year-old Shubham.

While playing his 51-run innings, Shubham attacked left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi the most. He scored 18 runs off 7 balls from Shaheen, with a strike rate of 257.14. Out of his total 6 boundaries, 3 came against Shaheen.
