There had been widespread speculation about who would step into Drishyam 3 following Akshaye Khanna’s sudden exit from the film. Putting the rumours to rest, actor Prakash Raj has confirmed that he is indeed part of the project, but clarified that he is not replacing anyone. Describing his character as “scintillating,” he assured fans that his role will be a compelling and exciting addition to the much-loved franchise.
Is Drishyam 3 replacing Akshaye Khanna?
Prakash Raj shared the news on X, saying, "Started shooting for this engaging franchise #Drishyam3 in Hindi. With a wonderful team and a scintillating role to play. I'm sure you will love it. (And yes, I'm not replacing anyone…)."
The news came after Akshaye Khanna apparently left Drishyam 3 just a few days before the shooting started. Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak also stated that the actor demanded 21 crore after hitting major successes in his recent films, Dhurandhar and Chhaava.
The producer further explained in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, remarking, "We had signed an agreement with Akshaye Khanna... He insisted he would like to wear a wig, but it wasn't practical for continuity. Despite repeated discussions, he eventually informed us he did not want to be part of the film at all."

After Akshaye Khanna left, Jaideep Ahlawat has been confirmed as one of the main actors in Drishyam 3. Other Bollywood stars, including Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, and Tabu, will all return. Akshaye, who played a senior police officer in Drishyam 2, will not appear in the new film.

The Drishyam franchise is recognised for its suspense and family drama and has become India’s most popular thriller. The Hindi films are based on the original 2013 Malayalam movie starring Mohanlal.
Fans across languages will get the chance to watch the next parts of this popular thriller soon. As Drishyam 3 will release in Hindi on 2 October 2026, it features new actors like Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat. The Malayalam version will release earlier in April 2026.
