Bruno Fernandes reached a major milestone as Manchester United edged past Brentford FC 2-1, matching the Premier League goal involvement record of Cristiano Ronaldo. The United captain played a decisive role, assisting Benjamin Sesko and bringing his total to 140 goal contributions in the competition.
Matching a club legend
Fernandes reached the landmark in just 226 appearances, significantly quicker than Ronaldo, whose tally came across two spells at Old Trafford. While Ronaldo’s record leans heavily on goals, Fernandes has delivered a more balanced contribution with 70 goals and 70 assists.
The achievement places Fernandes alongside one of the club’s greatest icons, underlining his importance to United since his arrival in 2020.
Consistency driving United’s push
The midfielder’s influence extends beyond numbers. His assist against Brentford helped keep United on track for a top finish, with the team now close to securing qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
Fernandes has also been on a remarkable run of form, registering goal contributions in consecutive league matches, a level of consistency not seen at the club since Robin van Persie’s peak years.

With four games remaining, just two more assists would see him set a new benchmark. Given his current form, Fernandes has a realistic chance of not only rewriting the record books but also capping off one of the most productive individual seasons in recent Premier League history.
