Bengaluru to host Global Chess League Season 4 from September 30

The Global Chess League (GCL) will make its return to India for Season 4, bringing some of the world's leading chess players back to the country. Organisers have confirmed that Bengaluru will host the tournament, continuing India's growing association with elite chess events.

Bengaluru to host fourth season of Global Chess League

The fourth season of the Global Chess League will be held in Bengaluru, marking the tournament's return to India. The league is a joint venture between Tech Mahindra and FIDE and has quickly established itself as one of the most prominent franchise-based events in the sport.

The upcoming season is scheduled to take place from September 30 to October 14. The event will feature six teams competing in a format that brings together top male and female players from around the world, as per The Indian Express.

Speaking about the development, Jagdish Mitra, Chairperson of the Global Chess League Board, said, "India has become the epicentre of the global chess movement, and Bengaluru is a fitting destination for the next chapter of the Global Chess League", according to The Indian Express.

The organisers believe the city's strong technology ecosystem and growing interest in chess make it an ideal venue for the competition.

League aims to build on previous success

Since its launch, the Global Chess League has attracted many of the world's top grandmasters and leading chess personalities. The event's team-based structure and fast-paced format have helped broaden its appeal among both traditional chess followers and newer audiences.

According to organisers, the upcoming edition will continue to showcase high-quality competition while strengthening the league's global reach.

Jagdish Mitra reportedly added, "The Global Chess League has redefined how chess is consumed and celebrated, blending elite competition with innovation and entertainment."
