India’s top badminton players are set to return to individual action at the Thailand Open Super 500 tournament in Bangkok after their recent Thomas and Uber Cup campaigns. All eyes will be on PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen as they look to make deep runs in the tournament and regain momentum this season.
Sindhu and Lakshya lead Indian challenge
Lakshya Sen enters the tournament as the seventh seed and will face Singapore’s Jason Teh Jia Heng in the opening round. The Indian star missed India’s Thomas Cup semifinal because of an elbow injury, but he is expected to be fit for the tournament. Lakshya has shown good form this year and hopes to continue that consistency in Bangkok. Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu will start her campaign against Chinese Taipei’s Tung Ciou-Tong. Sindhu has had a mixed season so far but remains one of India’s strongest medal hopes. The experienced shuttler will look to use this tournament to build confidence ahead of the major events later this year.
