Lakshya Sen advances to All England Championships quarterfinals with impressive win

Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen defeated Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long in a tense match in Birmingham to book his place in the All England Championship quarterfinals.

India's rising badminton star Lakshya Sen kept India’s hopes alive with a strong victory over Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long in the Round of 16 at the All England Championship in Birmingham. Sen had to battle hard in the opening game, eventually edging it 21-19 after a closely fought contest.

Ng Ka Long started the match confidently and took early control, putting pressure on the Indian shuttler. However, Sen responded well and brought the score level at 7-7 with sharp attacking play. At the mid-game interval, Sen held an 11-8 lead, using powerful smashes and precise placement to stay ahead. As the game moved into the closing stages, Ng Ka Long mounted a comeback and levelled the score at 19-19. Despite the pressure, Sen remained calm and sealed the first game 21-19 with a strong service return and attacking shots.

Stadium tension rises as Ng Ka Long forces a decider

Lakshya Sen began the second game with confidence and controlled the tempo through aggressive smashes and quick net exchanges. However, Ng Ka Long fought back with consistent rallies and solid defensive returns, gradually closing the gap.

The tension inside the stadium increased as both players pushed each other to the limit. The game reached a dramatic stage when the score was level at 20-20. Ng Ka Long then won two crucial points to take the game 23-21, levelling the match 1-1 and forcing a decisive third game, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

Lakshya Sen dominates final game to seal victory

As the third and final game began, Sen quickly took control of the match. After the tense second game, the Indian shuttler increased the pace with powerful smashes and sharp net play. Although Ng Ka Long continued to fight hard, Sen maintained his momentum throughout the decider.

Sen eventually closed the match comfortably with a 21-10 win in the final game, sealing a convincing victory and securing his place in the quarterfinals of the prestigious All England Championship.
