Roundglass Hockey Academy etched its name into the history books by becoming the first Indian hockey academy to lift a title in Australia after defeating NSW Singhs 6-0 in the final of the International Youth Hockey Cup 2026 in Sydney. The Indian side remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, producing an outstanding all-round performance to secure its second international championship of the year.
Coached by Vikas Pal and managed by Olympian Sanjeev Kumar, the academy combined disciplined defending with relentless attacking play to dominate every opponent it faced during the competition.
Four-goal burst puts final beyond Australian hosts
The championship clash began cautiously, with both teams unable to break the deadlock during the opening quarter. However, Roundglass Hockey Academy completely changed the complexion of the match in the second quarter with a devastating attacking display.
Amandeep opened the scoring in the 17th minute by converting a penalty corner before Anurag Singh doubled the advantage just two minutes later with another successful penalty corner. Gautam then added a field goal in the 25th minute before Razzaq Ali struck four minutes later to give the Indian academy a commanding 4-0 lead at the break.
The dominance continued after halftime as Varinder Singh extended the advantage in the 45th minute. Amandeep completed his brace in the final minute of regulation time, sealing an emphatic 6-0 victory and ensuring the title was secured convincingly.

Unbeaten run marked by relentless attacking hockey
Roundglass Hockey Academy's triumph was built on consistent performances from the opening match of the tournament. The team began with an 8-0 victory over NSW Lions before defeating Team Majulah Singapore 5-0.
It followed those wins with a 5-2 triumph over NSW Singhs during the league stage and a 6-1 victory against Bobby Academy. The league phase concluded with a comprehensive 7-1 win over Shepparton Hockey Academy, ensuring the Indian side entered the final unbeaten.
Across six matches, the academy scored an impressive 37 goals while conceding only four, underlining its superiority throughout the competition.

Second overseas title strengthens academy's reputation
The Australian triumph adds another milestone to an already successful international season for Roundglass Hockey Academy. Earlier this year, the academy claimed the Sikh Union Club Nairobi Centenary Celebrations Hockey Tournament in Kenya, making this its second overseas title in 2026.
Roundglass Hockey Academy has focused on identifying promising young talent from across India and providing world-class coaching, infrastructure and sports science support under its player development programme. The latest success in Australia further reinforces the academy's growing reputation as one of India's leading centres for nurturing future hockey stars while showcasing Indian youth hockey on the international stage.
