BMW’s new adventure tourer F 450 GS targets sub-500cc adventure, India launch soon

The latest BMW adventurer will give tough competition to the adventure touring market dominators like KTM and Royal Enfield.

BMW is planning on launching its latest adventure tourer bike in India. Earlier this year, the German automobile manufacturer unveiled its Sub 500 CC motorbike, the BMW F 450 GS, aimed towards grabbing market share in the lower segment adventure touring market. The new bike can pose a greater threat to the market dominators like KTM and Royal Enfield.

Looks

The new baby BMW adventure bike shares similarities with its bigger predecessor R1300GS, when it comes to looks. Starting from the DRLs coupled with a similar-looking headlight unit, to the seating posture, the bike comes with sharp edges, compact size, giving the bike an aggressive yet appealing look.

BMW F 450 GS power figures

Power-packed with a new 420 CC liquid-cooled inline two engine, the pocket adventure produces 48 hp at 8750 rpm with 45 Nm at 6750 rpm. The engine comes with a 6-speed transmission, coupled with a wet clutch. The baby GS also packs some great stopping power to tame that power with a 4-piston calliper for the 19-inch front wheel and a one-piston calliper for the 17-inch rear wheel. It also comes with a large 14-litre tank to cover long terrain without any headache.

Frame and suspension

Built on the steel tubular space-frame, the F 450GS is a great choice for adventure biking enthusiasts. At 178 kg, the bike is compatible for both highway cruising and off-road shenanigans. To ensure long riding comfort, the F 450GS comes with adjustable upside-down forks from KYB in the front and a single mono shock in the rear.

Electronic aids

The GS offers a myriad of electronic riding aids, supported with a 6.5-inch TFT console, loaded with smartphone connectivity, navigation, USB charger. The baby GS offers three riding modes: Rain, Road, and Enduro; enabled by dual-channel ABS, traction control and other suite of electronic rider aids offered by BMW.

The price of estimated to hover between ₹4 lakhs to ₹4.5 lakhs ex-showroom. BMW is already known for its agility, quality and capability. Now it's just a matter of time until the automobile manufacturer finally announces the launch dates of the vehicle in the Indian market.
