Apple has increased the prices of several MacBook and iPad models in India, with some devices becoming nearly Rs 1 lakh more expensive than their original launch prices. The company has attributed the increase to rising component costs, particularly memory and storage.
The revised prices affect several products in the MacBook Pro and iPad Air lineups, while iPhone prices remain unchanged for now.
MacBooks and iPads become costlier
According to the updated pricing on Apple's website, the M5-powered MacBook Pro series has seen a significant increase. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip now starts at Rs 2,99,900, compared to its original launch price of Rs 2,49,900.

The iPad Air has witnessed an even sharper rise. The base 13-inch iPad Air now costs Rs 1,19,900, up from Rs 84,900 at launch. Depending on the model, prices have increased between 20 and 42 per cent.
Following the announcement, Apple shares fell by as much as 6 per cent.
Apple cites rising component costs
Explaining the decision, the company pointed to the growing demand for memory and storage components.
“The rapid expansion of AI data centers has created an extraordinary surge in demand for memory and storage,” Apple said in a statement sent to multiple media outlets.
“We have never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly,” the spokesperson said, according to AFP.
The increasing demand for AI infrastructure has pushed up the prices of memory chips and RAM used in electronic devices. Reports indicate that some chip prices have risen by at least 50 per cent since late 2025.
iPhone prices unchanged for now
Apple said it had absorbed rising costs for as long as possible.
“…We have now reached a point where we need to begin raising prices on a number of products, including today’s increases for iPad and Mac. We know this is not welcome news, and we are working tirelessly to find solutions,” the company said.

Outgoing CEO Tim Cook had earlier indicated that higher prices were unavoidable.
“There's less supply at a time when consumers want devices and the memory guys are passing along huge price increases,” Cook said, describing the situation as a “hundred-year flood”.
