Oracle, a major American multinational technology company, recently conducted its largest-ever round of layoffs. The company sent an email to the affected employees at 6 am in the US. In the email, the company informed that due to a "broader organisational change”, several employees' roles had been eliminated.

It is estimated that Oracle has fired around 30,000 employees globally. Among the laid-off employees, one of them is going viral all over the internet for his optimist approach.

From corporate job to gig work

An X user named Nayak Satya shared a story of his friend, who was a former Oracle engineer. In the story, he shares that his close friend, who used to be an Oracle employee, after being laid off, returned to his hometown in Bhubaneshwar and started driving Uber to sustain himself along with his family.

Nayak emphasised that far from panicking, his friend used his savings and started driving an Uber to sustain his life with confidence and calm. Nayak’s post on X exclaims, “No panic. No stress." He explained that the careful financial planning of his friend during his corporate job saved him from the situation he was in then. He mentioned that instead of viewing the layoff as a setback, his friend treated it as an opportunity to reset and explore new paths.

Well-planned savings

“One of my close friends was fired from Oracle Bangalore. No panic, no stress, and no crying on social media. He straight away came back to his hometown, Bhubaneswar.," he said in a post on X.

He explains that his friend's savings from his corporate job have saved him from the crisis. “He had postal fixed deposits in two joint accounts, 15 lakh each. One with his parents and two in his and his wife's names. He also had one kid's account. Together, these give him almost 28,000 in interest every month. He also had fixed deposits in some Indian banks worth around 30 lakh, which give him another 15,000 per month.

He is now living at his own home with his parents. He knows how to drive, so he immediately started working as an Uber driver at his own convenience, earning good money."

He further explains how well he planned his financial decisions in the Metro city. “He has no EMIs and no loans for any metro city flat. At the same time, he is calmly planning to start a small business with the help of his parents.”

Additionally he said, "He never followed influencers, never did SIP and avoided all the modern financial hype. Pure old school vibes, steady process and discipline. He happily called me today to meet up after our conversation to cross-check the potential of Bhubaneswar to start something fresh.”

Further in his post he exclaims, "So, folks, plan in advance so when required, you will never fumble. The biggest learning for me is, no matter how tough the situations are, always prepare with a smile.”

Shares his own 'learning'

Sharing the story of his friend, Nayak Satya advised and urged people to "plan in advance" so that in cases of adversities, no one "fumbles".

"Biggest learning for me no matter how tof the situations always prepare with a smile," Nayak said.
