Unusual weather swept through parts of Rajasthan this week, bringing hailstorms, strong winds, and light rain triggered by a western disturbance. The activity has been particularly striking in Bikaner, one of India's driest cities where fields turned white under a thick layer of hailstones.
A forest officer's video posted on X captured a field in Arjunsar, Bikaner district, completely covered in ice after Thursday's storm. "Not Kashmir. This is Arjunsar in Bikaner district," he wrote, adding a plea that the government attend to crop insurance for affected farmers.

Weather activity is forecast to ease slightly on April 5 and 6, before another western disturbance arrives around April 7, likely reigniting intense storms and rainfall across the state. Bikaner is expected to see renewed hailstorm activity on April 7 and 8.
Broader impact across North India
Hindustan Times reported that the India Meteorological Department has warned of hailstorms beyond Rajasthan.
Alerts are in place for Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and East Rajasthan on April 3 and 4. Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are on watch for April 4.
