A travel influencer faced criticism online. He said he was “stranded” in Singapore because of flight disruptions in the Middle East. However, economy class seats were still available on some flights. This made many people question his claim.

According to a New York Post report, Daniel Goz is known online as NonStop Dan. On March 4, he posted a video for his more than one million YouTube subscribers. The title of the video was “There Are No Flights Left.”

In the clip, the influencer said he was travelling from Bali to Dubai. He had a stopover in Singapore. During the journey, he became "stranded" because flight disruptions affected routes through the Middle East. While showing a graphic of upcoming flights, he stated that "there are a few seats on some days in economy".

Netizens share their views

Some viewers reacted angrily to this remark. They said he was being insensitive. At that time, many travellers were truly struggling to get back home. One X user wrote, "Laughed for 15 minutes straight at this airline reviewer claiming he got stranded in Singapore on his way to Dubai and that there are indeed flights, he just doesn't want to fly economy class."

"Absolutely hilarious that Dan would rather wait two weeks in Singapore without seeing his family rather than dealing with the horror of travelling economy," another user added.

"My thoughts are with the premium passengers and those in danger of flying economy," stated the third user.

Influencer shortens video amid backlash

After facing criticism, Goz shortened the video by more than a minute. He also changed the title of the video. The new title is "Millions of travellers are about to be stranded."

He stated, "Lots of you are saying 'just fly economy!' and I totally get that. The pricing example I show on screen in the video is economy (should've been clearer about that), and as you can see, there's barely anything available for the next two weeks."

He also said that only a few economy seats were left. The price was more than $1,500 per person for a one-way ticket. He added that these seats could sell out soon.

He further wrote, "The bigger point of this video, that global aviation capacity has been massively disrupted and millions of travellers, families, students, people on work trips, will feel ripple effects, still stands. I hope it's useful to those of you figuring this out. Stay safe, everyone."

Goz grew up in London and now lives in Sweden. He started travelling when he was 12 years old. Later, he turned his love for travel into a career. The influencer has posted about 700 videos. He has also reviewed more than 160 airlines worldwide.
