A swing ride at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio stopped mid-air on April 26, leaving passengers suspended nearly 200 feet above the ground. The ride operator deliberately halted the attraction after spotting a guest using a mobile phone, which violates park safety rules.
All riders were safely brought down. Footage of the incident, shared by Storyful on April 29, spread widely online and drew significant public attention.
What happened on the ride
The ride involved was the Supergirl Sky Flight, a swing attraction that lifts passengers to approximately 200 feet, equivalent to around 40 storeys, before spinning them at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour. The ride features open seating and offers panoramic views of the park below.

Rider Maria Salazar, who was on the ride with her husband and friends, described the experience as unsettling. Speaking to Storyful, she said it was "scary to have to wait up in the air, unable to move". She said the group remained suspended for roughly 10 to 15 minutes before maintenance personnel brought the ride back down safely, as reported by NDTV.
What the park said
A spokesperson for Six Flags Fiesta Texas told People magazine that the stop was intentional, not the result of a mechanical fault. The spokesperson said, "Last weekend, a ride operator stopped one of our rides when a guest violated our safety policy. Once the issue was resolved, the ride resumed. All guests safely exited, and the ride remained open for the remainder of the day."

The park stated the stoppage lasted approximately seven minutes; a figure that differs from Salazar's account of 10 to 15 minutes. All riders remained securely seated throughout, as cited by NDTV.
About the attraction
As per the report of NDTV, the Supergirl Sky Flight is designed to simulate the sensation of flight. According to the official park website, it combines height, speed, and open seating to create a high-adrenaline experience. Park safety policies prohibit mobile phone use and loose items during rides to protect both riders and those below.
