A cab driver in Bengaluru was admitted to hospital after allegedly discovering a lizard in a paneer tikka roll. The incident took place on April 25 at a bakery near Housing Board on Magadi Main Road.

As per the report of the Times of India, the complainant, Deepu NK, 32, is a resident of Agrahara Dasarahalli. He had skipped lunch that day and visited the bakery at around 4 pm. He first had a piece of honey cake, then ordered a paneer tikka roll after chicken rolls were unavailable.

What Deepu alleged

Deepu claims he found a lizard inside the roll after eating part of it. He confronted the bakery staff who denied any problem and invited him to inspect the premises himself. During the inspection, Deepu vomited.

A staff member then accompanied him to a private multispecialty hospital near Kamakshipalya Police Station. He was admitted and later developed diarrhoea. Doctors placed him under 24-hour observation, as cited by the Times of India.

The dispute over responsibility

The bakery staff allegedly refused to cover his hospital expenses. They instead asked him to go to a different hospital where they knew a doctor. Deepu refused, citing concern about his condition worsening during the transfer.

Police investigation

As per the report of the Times of India, Govindaraja Nagar police registered a case against the bakery under BNS for negligent conduct involving a poisonous substance. However, a senior police officer noted that Deepu did not provide any physical evidence of the lizard. According to the officer, Deepu said he did not photograph it because he panicked after vomiting. The case remains under investigation.
