The Election Commission is set to release the first supplementary voter list for West Bengal on Monday, following directions from the Supreme Court to verify and settle pending voter records.
Earlier, when the final voter list (first phase) was published on February 28, nearly 60 lakh voters were placed “under adjudication.” The Supreme Court had instructed that their documents be verified and resolved in phases, after which supplementary lists would be issued.
According to sources from the state’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office, the verification process has now been completed for 28 lakh voters. Their names are set to be included in the list to be published on Monday.
Two lists to be released-how to check?
Officials confirmed that two separate lists will be published. One will include the names of voters who have been successfully added to the final voter list, while the other will list those whose names have been excluded after verification.
The supplementary voter list will be accessible through the ECINET app and the official website. Hard copies will also be made available at district DM offices and placed at polling booths across the state.
EC meeting ahead of assembly polls
In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, the Election Commission will also hold a meeting on Monday at 4 PM via video conferencing. The meeting will include all District Election Officers (DEOs), Commissioners of Police (CPs), and Superintendents of Police (SPs).
Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti, who is in charge of West Bengal, along with Senior Deputy Election Commissioners Manish Garg and Pawan Kumar Sharma, will attend the meeting. State Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal and other senior officials will also be present.
