Kolkata’s New Town witnessed a significant step forward in child healthcare as Neotia Bhagirathi Women and Child Care Centre unveiled its new Centre for Paediatric Multispecialty. Inaugurated by Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman of the Ambuja Neotia Group, the facility marks a major expansion of the hospital’s capabilities and raises its total bed capacity to 220.
For over twenty years, the hospital has earned the trust of families across Eastern India by focusing exclusively on women and children. But as paediatric needs have evolved, so has the hospital’s vision. Routine treatment is no longer enough; children today require specialised, multidisciplinary care supported by advanced diagnostics and early detection.

After inaugurating the hospital, Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman, Ambuja Neotia Group, said, “This hospital represents more than an expansion of our healthcare footprint—it reflects our belief that every child deserves care shaped around their unique needs. Children are not small adults; their bodies, emotions, and vulnerabilities demand specialised attention, thoughtful design, and deep expertise.”
Purpose and philosophy of the New Town Hospital
From congenital heart conditions to neurological disorders or any kidney-related illnesses, this ecosystem ensures that children receive the right expertise when they need it most. The facility includes a dedicated Paediatric Cath Lab, Paediatric Cardiac Surgery OT, and Paediatric Dialysis unit, supported by a 160-slice CT scanner and a 1.5 Tesla MRI customised for paediatric use.
Reflecting this belief, the centre houses specialised departments in Paediatric Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Surgery, Urology and Orthopaedics. The NICU, PICU, and paediatric emergency areas have been designed with sensory-aware elements and child-friendly interiors to create a comforting space during vulnerable moments.
