Different voter names, different EPIC numbers, but the same photo! The Election Commission has noticed such incidents during the enumeration phase. To resolve this photo confusion, the Election Commission has introduced a new option in the BLO app called 'Similar Photo Elector Verification'.
According to information received by the Election Commission from voters, it appears that multiple voters used the same photo while filling up enumeration forms. The Election Commission believes that due to some mix-up, one person's photo was attached to another person's form.

A new option has now been added to the app to catch such mix-ups. The Commission had already used AI to identify duplicate voters. Facial recognition was already being done. Now it will be detected more accurately. Not all BLOs will need to use this option. According to sources, the Commission will indicate to BLOs in areas where such incidents have occurred.
They will enter the 'Similar Photo Elector Verification' option and check in whose cases this has happened. Face re-verification will be conducted. Swapan Mandal, General Secretary of the Election Workers and BLO Unity Platform, said that providing new options even after the enumeration phase is complete reflects nothing but the Election Commission's lack of preparation. However, regarding the new option, he stated that such incidents may occur more frequently in border districts. Therefore, this could also be one of the reasons for providing this new option.
