Passengers allege overspeeding
It has been preliminarily learned that the government bus was traveling from Howrah towards Baruipur on Tuesday morning. Due to office hours, there were numerous passengers on the bus. They alleged that before the accident, the old, dilapidated government bus was traveling at extremely high speed. Near Tapsia More, the bus suddenly lost control, hit the roadside railing, and completely overturned. In that position, as the bus door was facing upward, it was not possible to rescue passengers through it. Later, locals broke the rear windows and pulled out the trapped passengers. Apart from being injured in the incident, several passengers also fell ill due to panic.
Many passengers claim that the accident occurred due to a puncture in the bus's front wheel. An eyewitness on the bus said, "From the moment I boarded the bus that day, I could see the driver was driving rashly. I heard the sound of a tire bursting even before the accident." However, some eyewitnesses claim that when a motorcycle came in front of the bus, the driver lost control while trying to avoid it. After that, the bus hit the side railing and overturned.
