Kolkata Metro’s Blue Line once again ran into trouble at the start of the day, causing inconvenience to thousands of daily commuters. Due to a signalling fault near Dakshineswar, Metro services from the station were suspended for nearly two hours on Tuesday morning, leaving passengers stranded from around 7 am.
Angry commuters alleged that two Metro services were cancelled due to the disruption. However, Metro authorities did not issue any immediate clarification regarding the cancellations.

Signalling fault disrupts services
According to Metro sources, a fault in the signalling system near Dakshineswar forced authorities to suspend services on both the up and down lines from the station. While Metro services could not operate from Dakshineswar, partial services continued between Baranagar and Bridghi to keep the route functional.
Metro engineers reached the spot promptly, and repair work was carried out with urgency. After nearly two hours, the signalling issue was resolved. Later, Metro sources confirmed that services on the Blue Line had returned to normal.

Commuters face morning hardship
Passengers complained that signalling issues on the Blue Line have become a recurring problem. Many commuters who arrived at Dakshineswar station around 7 am faced difficulties due to the service suspension.
The Dakshineswar route is heavily used by passengers travelling from Hooghly and the northern parts of the city to South Kolkata and the southern suburbs. As a result of the disruption, several commuters reported delays in reaching their workplaces during the morning rush hour.
