Even before the month of 'Magh' ended, the cold vanished from the city like magic. The biting cold weather from about a week ago has almost disappeared from the city. Except for the morning and evening hours, the cold is not felt much the rest of the day. The weather department has announced that temperatures are set to rise further in the coming days. The weather department blames successive western disturbances in North India for this.
Kolkata's minimum temperature dropped slightly on Saturday compared to the previous day. On Friday, the city's minimum temperature was 17.9 degrees Celsius.
On Saturday, the city's temperature dropped by nearly 1 degree to 16.8 degrees Celsius. However, the weather department believes this temperature drop will not be long-lasting. Temperatures are likely to rise from the beginning of February.
Successive western disturbances continue to hit Jammu-Kashmir and adjoining areas. Two new western disturbances may enter in the first week of February. Due to their impact, northerly winds are decreasing and temperatures are rising. In South Bengal, light fog is likely in Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia, East and West Bardhaman, East Midnapore and South 24 Parganas. Kolkata may experience light fog in the morning.
