National Youth Day was celebrated with festive spirit at Belur Math in Howrah on Monday on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda's 164th birth anniversary. Groups of devotees and visitors gathered at the Math from morning onwards. The day's programme began with the morning arati at Sri Ramakrishna's temple at dawn. This was followed by morning arati and worship at Swami Vivekananda's temple.

Processions, prayers and cultural programmes
From morning, students from numerous schools, clubs, various cultural institutions and branch organizations of Belur Math arrived at Belur Math in procession. They circumambulated the temple and had darshan of Thakur while singing songs of Swamiji and Thakur in colorful processions carrying pictures and portraits of Swamiji. Various programmes were also organized throughout Monday on this occasion. Special worship was arranged at Sri Ramakrishna temple and Swami Vivekananda's temple at dawn.
On this day, processions were also held by various organizations of Ramakrishna Math and Mission on the occasion of the 42nd National Youth Day. Various programmes were organized in temporary pavilions in the Math premises on Swamiji's appearance day on the occasion of Youth Day. Vedic chanting and congregational singing were held. This was followed by inaugural song, recitation of patriotic hymns, music, musical recitation, speeches and yoga demonstration. Students of Vivekananda Veda Vidyalaya, Belur Math participated in Vedic chanting. Students of Salkia Mrigendra Dutta Memorial Girls' School presented the inaugural song.

Swami Shanteshananda of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir read the proposal in Bengali. Students of Ramakrishna Mission Shilpavidyalaya recited patriotic hymns. Students of Belur Girls' High School presented music. Vedarthananda of Brahmachari Training Centre, Belur Math read the Hindi proposal.
Students of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir presented musical recitation. Students of Sinthi Ramakrishna Sangha Vidyamandir (Govt. Sponsored) participated in words and songs. Swami Tattvasarananda Maharaj delivered the presidential address. Students of Ramakrishna Mission Shikshan Mandir participated in the concluding song. Students of Ramakrishna Mission Jana Shiksha Mandir demonstrated yoga.
