LPG cylinder leak during cooking causes fire, house owner seriously injured in Durgapur

A sudden fire caused by an LPG cylinder pipe leak broke out in Durgapur’s Rabindra Palli area, critically injuring a homeowner and destroying several household items.

A devastating fire broke out in Durgapur due to an LPG cylinder pipe leak. The fire suddenly erupted in a house on Monday afternoon. Upon receiving the news, fire services and police quickly rushed to the scene. After prolonged efforts, the fire was finally brought under control. House owner Sushanta De was seriously injured in the incident. Police have taken him to a local hospital for treatment.

According to sources, the fire incident occurred suddenly while cooking in a house in the Rabindra Palli area of Dhandabag during the afternoon. Local residents rushed to the scene upon hearing the news. They first attempted to extinguish the fire. However, when they failed, fire services and police were notified. The fire was brought under control after nearly an hour of efforts.

Seriously injured Sushanta was first taken to the local DSP Main Hospital. When his condition deteriorated there, he was transferred to a private hospital in the Bidhan Nagar area of Durgapur. Additionally, several household items were reduced to ash in the fire.

Although the fire has now been extinguished, fire service personnel are checking whether there are any pocket fires anywhere. Sub Inspector Ripon Barua of Durgapur Fire Department said, "The burning gas cylinder has been brought out from inside the house. The fire has also been extinguished now. However, the house owner is seriously injured."
